St. Croix Valley Opera is pleased to present:
Figaro for Kids
(Il barbiere di Siviglia told to kids)
based on The Barber of Seville
Figaro! Figaro! Figaro! St. Croix Valley Opera presents a new adaptation for young spectators of one of the most popular operas and most famous operatic characters. With homages from Bugs Bunny to Mrs. Doubtfire, Rossini’s The Barber of Seville provides a wonderfully suitable (and whacky) introduction of this timeless classic. Follow Figaro on his mischievous escapades to unite an unlikely couple and ensure that true love wins the day.

St. Croix Valley Opera hopes to bring a bit of opera (In English) to area children with this version of Barber. SCVO will be engaging talented local singers throughout the region to prepare a schedule of performances planned for in-school tours in March of 2024 to introduce opera to kids and encourage them and their families to attend the full hour-long Figaro for Kids production at The Phipps Center for the Arts in Hudson, WI.

Location of Performance(s):
St. Croix Valley Opera will be showcasing a shortened sampling of Figaro for Kids in March of 2024 for St. Croix Valley 3rd through 6th-grade students, followed by matinee performances at The Phipps Center for the Arts in Hudson, WI the weekend of the in-school performances. Children will be introduced to opera, maybe for the first time. Then, along with their parents, they would be encouraged to see the whole 50-minute production that weekend at The Phipps together.

Please Consider Making A Difference In These Kids' Lives:
We are also planning to find community support to work alongside local organizations interested in helping fund this opportunity for the children throughout the valley, and have made it very simple to make a donation/sponsorship contribution designated specifically for these educational events. Please consider making a contribution to help sponsor this program and others in our 2024 season by following this link, and you will find suggested items that need your support! Thank you and we hope to see you there, and maybe even work with you to bring this great opportunity to the children!

We look forward to seeing you at Figaro for Kids!
