Kathryn Keefer, along with her husband Wilbur Keefer, established the Voices of Vienna scholarship in honor of Professor Emeritus William Wright, the founding director of the Center for Austrian Studies at the University of Minnesota. This scholarship supports undergraduate seniors and graduate students in the social sciences or humanities who wish to conduct research in Austria or other former Habsburg territories. The scholarship is administered alternately by the University’s School of Music and the Center for Austrian Studies. In 2024, recipient Yuwen Sun, a Doctorate of Musical Arts candidate at the University of Minnesota’s School of Music, utilized the scholarship to perform in Mozart’s “Così fan tutte” at Vienna’s Musikverein.
